My favorite thought on this subject involves the idea that a 'new broom sweeps clean'.
When I was in the army I noticed a bunch of things that, plainly speaking, were wrong. Wrong to anyone with eyes.
I made comment on some of these things and I was told that if I truly cared I would follow the established program, work hard and hope to be promoted to a position where I could make a difference.
Um, I said, but the changes need to be made now!
Ah, but you just got here. You've not seen the entire picture. Once you're got a few years and a few ranks behind you, you will understand how everything fits together and if you still feel the way you do now then you will be in a position to do something about it.
Um, I said, isn't there a suggestions box or....
NO! Why would anybody in a position of authority want to listen to someone who just got here and doesn't know what's going on? You're here to be trained. You are not here to critique the system. The system doesn't need you. You need the system. You are incomplete until we say different. Here, go peel some potatoes.

Umm, this looks like some weird mixture between a 'Wanninger' and a 'Don Quichote and the Windmills' case.
But did you know...
The unit of measure for intelligence is the 'tary'.
Bright sparks are located in the Megatary or even Gigatary range.
And then there's the Military.

For my defense I'd like to add that I'm entitled to speak about the military, as I spent some time there myself...
