And so, the Keepers, as they would be known for generations to come, would one day swell in numbers so disproportionately to the h2g2 community, that they would eventually overtake h2g2, and take over the internet.

Starting with that little server in London, the Keepers would Keep everything, and hence control the Universe.

And yet, there was still much dancing and singing in the streets. For, at the present time, the majority of the planet Earth were oblivious to the coming of the Keepers, and were still none-the-wiser to their ultimate goal.
