According to Mark Lewisohn (in 'The Complete Beatles Chronicle'), the date of Ringo joining the Beatles was Saturday 18 August, 2 days after Pete Best had been dismissed. The new-look Beatles performed at Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight, Birkenhead.
(btw...
The fab four played together for the first time at Saturday 15 October 1960, when they recorded 'Summertime'. Nine 78-rpm discs were cut!
Ringo sat in for Best at two engagemants on Monday 5 February 1962, lunchtime at Cavern Club and night at Kingsway Club, Southport.)
Blessed be Ringo!

Woah... thank you... I just updated this entry as per your suggestion of links OUTSIDE of h2g2!!! I'll try and add your vital information, when I get the chance(and when I think of it...)...
My source for "sometime in September" was based on Brian Epstein commentary and other sources available to me-- but not within immediate reach...
You know how that goes!! -- "I have a great idea, I want to get started on it, and get these thoughts down... and worry about it later..."
Not in keeping with that journalism class I took ever so long ago... hee hee hee...
Blessed be Ringo!

Plenty of ideas, no writing!
(In fact, thats a *big* RL problem for me! )
You can find the information given above, in the linked webpages, but I will strongly recommend Mark Lewisohn's book if you will write anything about Beatles! It's gold!
(He was the one writing the notes for the Anthology-CD's, if you wasn't aware.)
The discography link has a bug.
Blessed be Ringo!

OK - I see! I *must* have read about the flaming pie!
I'm very tired, leaves it up to you to tell what time it is (And I won't admit that I still don't remember to have read about it before... Aaaarrggh... I *must* have! I must, I must... )
About the book I'll admit forgetting about it. I'm quite sure I've heard something, but that's a long time ago...
(And another thing I'm not very pleased to say: I don't think I ever heard Maccas Flaming Pie album)
Blessed be RINGO!!!!!

Hello Dragonfly,
congrats, this is a very nice entry, indeed. I enjoy to read this!
And the links out of h2g2 are very good; especially I like the 'Thirteen reasons...'
Must go and tell ringo about this!
