US-based meets used to occur from time to time- I've been invited to a few Midwestern meets, but was never able to make one (yet).
Whereabouts are you located?

I think most of the organized US researchers have drifted a bit. There are several Researcher groups, but I don't know how many of them are still active.
I went to a meet in 2008, had a great time! We really should try to scrape something together sometime and have another.
The US meets tend to be smaller gatherings, since we're so much bigger and it just isn't practical for everyone to travel. With a few exceptions, meets are mostly regional.
The family went to NC last year for vacation, we were in the Newport/Morehead City area. Loved it, loved it, loved it!! I may have to retire there someday.

I haven't been to NC in years! My grandparents lived there when I was a kid. I remember that a random horse took up residence in their back yard for a couple of months one summer.
I haven't traveled much in recent years, mostly because it's just too hard to find enough time. IIRC, Broelan and I are probably close enough to each other to attend a meet in common (if my schedule ever permits it again!). No idea when I'd be able to get to the eastern states again though. Possibly if passing through on the way to visit my dad in Florida.

The nearest researcher to me (that doesn't live in my house and is only technically a researcher because I started her account when I was pregnant with her) is a 5 hour drive away...

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
