Too busy procrastinating...

Post 1

Hello there,

I'd love to join but I'm far too busy procrastinating right now. Maybe at a later date if I can just put off some of the procrastination that's been piling up for the last few months or is it years? It's been going on for so long now, I'm not quite sure anymore.

Anyway, I'll see what I can do (or can't do!) to hurry along and put my name down. It might not be for a while though.

I'll go and procrastinate some more and get back to you, if I can.

Bye

Hello there indeed. What Heaven it is to join such a stellar cast of procrastinators. One has noticed that waves of enthusiam come and go in the Guide. In truth, there are many more procrastinators out there than admit to their true nature. But I, for one, revel in the role.

My experience , as an ageing craftsman/artist, is that procrastination is fundamental to productivity. Here is the principle simply expounded. If there is an important job to be done, any other job will get done first, until that job has matured to a point of urgency.

Indeed, the ability of "jobs-to-be-done" to expand exponentially is the first real experience any of us have of hyper-space travel. As a productive procerastinator of advancing years, I can authoritatively assert that a decade is an average time-span for a well-procrastinated job to "mature" into urgency. In my workshop hang two chairs and a stool requiring leg-repair. They've been there for at least ten years, as the inch-thick layer of sawdust attests. ( I find accounts need to mature for about two years before the threatening letters from the Revenue Commissioners transform their lack of completion into a fully matured urgency.)

And the writing of this post, of course, is keeping me from today's important work, whatever that may be.

Ho hum, time to make some chai. No what was I about to do.........?
