What's this Mogadishu?

Mogadishu is the capital of Somalia, as much as Somalia can be said to have a capital, since it doesn't really have a government. Just a bunch of warlords quarreling with each other. A black hole where a country used to be.

I was tempted to name African places as example of how anarchy doesn't work, but seeing as I don't keep in touch with the news much I thought I'd prolly be a bit ill-informed. Playing it safe for once, y'know

It's been about 10 years now since President Bush sent in the Marines to do emergency food distribution. The warlords were quarrelling over real estate while the people starved.

And then the warlords behaved so badly that the US government basically said stuff you lot and got out. And so did the UN peacekeeping force. I think maybe the Red Cross and Medicine Sans Frontieres are still in there.

You do know Somalia is in Africa, don't you?

Yeah, we did a little bit of "relief work", if you know what I mean, for Somalia in me old school. Gawd, the amount of appeals for African countries you saw flying around at primary school...you can hardly turn 'em down, can you?
