Right! How about some serious practice? I've got a load of sheet music - including piano reductions of concerti, so I can accompany ... Take your pick of a piece, Dragonfly... and we'll have some fun sight-reading it.

Mozart and oboe can be an "interesting" combination, you know. He liked woodwind, and wrots several concerti for clarinets and flutes, but he didn't like the principal oboist of the Vienna orchestra, so his oboe parts were often very difficult .... He did write the one wind quartet, in which the oboe gets a really good part, Anyway - we'll play whatever you fancy this time.
Maybe next time we could look at a few other possibilities .... Vivaldi wrote several oboe concerti, so did Albinoni ... I know they're a bit "early", so if you fancy something contemorary with Mozart, take a look at the Haydn oboe concerto - I think it's quite nice.

Telemann ... yes - plenty of good oboe parts there.
*Plays the A above middle C*
When you're ready - it may not be "440", but I can't tune to you, so ...

Perfect!!!
Well, do you have Telemann's Concerto in F minor!?? I believe that's what it is called...
And can you give me a D!??
Practice
Kes Posted Nov 21, 2000
*Plays the D above the A*
Is that one OK?
Yes - we've got a piano reduction of that one ... haven't played it before ... Can we start with the second movement - the slow movement - give me a chance to sight-read?

YES!!! That's a favorite... I play it quite mournful...
::practices the A above, to make sure she can still hit it::
Allright... D and the A sound fine... can you give me middle C!??
Practice
Kes Posted Nov 21, 2000
*C = 256 played*
OK ... I've only got 85 notes left
Seriously - for F minor, try a scale, check out the A B flats.
*Plays F minor broken chord*

*Nods. There's about 24 bars of "orchestra" before the solo entry (I think, from memory) ... Kes plays through them .. not too many missed notes ... coming through to the oboe entry on a perfect cadence ... Nods again at D - she's on!*
