looked owl-like at first to me also, but if you look closely, the grey lump is its nose and below that is a small brownish mouth... a beaver :p

It may be a depiction of some species of beaver, however it is most certainly not a typical Canadian beaver
It could be a genetically modified beaver, or a physiologically challenged beaver, but it resembles nothing more or less than a koala.
