I'm afraid I'm the fool who found himself doing this trip, along with two friends, Craig and Sam. The breakages described are ours and if Craig hadn't been quite a handy bike-mechanic I've no idea what would have happened.

That said, I can't think of anything I've felt so completely amazed and pleased with myself for doing in my life, and I know the other two feel the same way. We whole-heartedly recommend giving it a go if you're so inclined.

Any chance of lobbing some photos on to this internet thing to stimulate more interest?
A colleague of my mothers cycled all the way from Hong Kong back to the UK over many months and may have done a similar route to this - but she isn't on H2G2 so I can't find out.

I fully intend to sort some photos out to go on the net, but that won't be till I get home in a month or two. I haven't even seen any of the twenty odd films I've sent home - hope they're good!

You could get your folks to send the films in to "Fotango" (see front page of H2G2) and then (a) you could see 'em and (b) you could put the better ones on your home page at no cost to yourself.
I intend to do the same with my photos of Howth and Hong Kong, but they may not be as dramatic
