Healthcare

I agree that healthcare should be free at the point of provision for all...in fact it is probably my most left wing conviction. Why? Well healthcare is _not_ an individual thing. If someone is ill they have a huge knock on effect that everyone else has to pay for anyway - the risk of infection, reduction in productivity etc.
How can anyone think that healthcare is an individuals responsibility but that the army (for example) is the responsibility of the state. Would anyone take out "invasion insurance" that provided for military assistance if your country gets invaded or "civil unrest cover" for use in the event of riots.
There - that's got that off my chest...thanks, I feel quite a bit better
