they pay better lawyers, and it'll cost more in court than it's worth, usially.
definitely agree on contacting creditors, credit card companies, and re-arranging payments. they want your money, they'll work with you.

You're right about the better lawyers. I know life isn't fair, but it ought to be, durn it. 
A lawyer joke:
A young couple was strolling through a cemetary and came across a tombstone that read "John Smith, a lawyer and a good man". Says the young lady to her young fellow, "Is it legal to bury three men in one grave?"
