'Australian marine fears' means the jellyfish; our nation is presumably UK, then -and- , and J is Japan. What remains is iris, a kind of flag.

What a horrible creature! I'll bear it in mind for a limerick. We aren't near to I yet in OEDILF (just started on G) but if something formulates itself I can store it up.

First (non-limerick) response:

I think that I shall never see
Australia, lovely though it be;
With things like that one in the sea
I'll stay at home and watch TV.

I had a go earlier:

The stings of the box irukandji
Make Aussies exclaim “Jesus! Man! Gee!”
Six times they have tried
To use jellifishcide
But it thwarts them, so now they need plan G.

Oh yes, on the home page http://www.oedilf.com there is a button marked "Words" which when you hovero over it shows a sub-button marked "Random Words" which will give you a random list of ten undefined words. Hitting "Words" itself will give you thousands of undefined words, a hundred at a time.

Doldrums is the latest one. Still thinking about the other. Divine poets and operas aren't really my specialist subject, but I'm sure it will come to me eventually.
