"First Sentence Of A Book" Game

Post 1

The Groob

In this game, you have to write the first sentence of a book and others have to guess which book it's from. A correct guesser then gives a new line.

Easy one to start with:

Call me Ishmael

Keep it fairly well known early doors, yes? We can do more difficult ones later on. If they are fairly difficult then we can give clues such as author etc.

Aurora

That's from George Orwell's 1984.

If that's right, here's the new first line:

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in
possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."

Now the chain get's difficult - the book was not "Eternal Sunshine" - does this mean we keep that chain open until it's answered, or do I just tell you?

As a hint - the author of the book was paid by Stephen Spielberg because he made a movie starring Tom Hanks which, although it bore no relationship to the events in the book, did have a connection with the story.
