Perhaps you can't find English (or UK) apples because it's the wrong season for them right now. I would have thought that the first apple crops would be towards the end of this month or later. Cartainly the only apples I've seen on fruit trees in the UK recently (last week) have been small fruitlets needing time to grow to edible size.
For everything it's season - enjoy the asparagus, new potatoes and spring lamb while you can

I'm having a lot of asparagus, but have you noticed how ones wee changes its smell after eating it?!
You can find British apples in markets, just not supermarkets.

But I guess they stored from last year rather than this years crop (which is what I'm waiting for).
I can't say I've noticed that about asparagus before. Are you sure it's just the asparagus not anything else you may be eating or drinking at the same time?

Its definately the asparagus, my husband gets it too! Maybe I should keep quiet about it!
