I am informed by Jason Bradbury of Gadget Show fame that tonight is not just a Full moon but it's also a Blue Moon, the rare occurence that gives rise to the phrase 'once in a blue moon'. smiley - moon

turvy (Fetch me my trousers Geoffrey...)

And...!!! Not only, but also a partial lunar eclipse smiley - wowsmiley - moonsmiley - earthsmiley - star. It happened at 19.25 UT over Europe, Asia and Africa

Blue moon has nothing to do with its blueness. It is, however the second full moon of December (the first was on the 2nd).

I had a lovely clear sky and saw it from beginning to end (its pretty well over now).

Take a look here for more - http://spaceweather.com/ (select December 31st 2009 if you are looking from tomorrow).

Happy New Decade to you all.

Deek

All that I saw of it was a bright light glowing through the clouds. It was still bright enough to cast illuminate the back garden though.
