Well, I haven't personally, I am after-all just a concerned brother. My parents, in the small amount of time they have available, are always getting in contact with different groups. I'm not sure of the specifics but I could ask. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have to say, C a F and SNAP mainly concern themselves with helping parents of disabled children get the access to education that they need. I'm not au fait with organizations that further the aims of gifted children.I can appreciate that it's just as difficult.Have your parents had meetings with educational psychologist? they are often the movers and main players in the ed; game.

I'm not really here

"Every school has a SENCO ie; a special educational needs co-ordinator."

That's what I thought.

My son does have complex needs. By the looks of it I can chose a school based on his emotional needs, or his education. But not both. smiley - cross There seems to be only one which can do both, and that's for 'higher than average intelligence'. If you're just 'normal' then you can bugger off. smiley - cross

Every school is supposed to have a SEN Co-Ord. I think there was a white-paper on it, I can't find it at the moment but I'm looking. It seems that the system has been in a state of flux ever since it was initiated and has yet to achieve anything.

It's just a suggestion but have you met with the parent-governors of the school?

I wonder if it's even worth me commenting in this thread when presented with the following:
#1 "...most schools are not capable of teaching"
#3 "As for dealing with enemies I believe mine have been of a somewhat higher caliber than most. I have had to deal with teachers..."
#6 "...gifted children do need someone more gifted to teach them, a rarity in many educational institutions."

It was said by a BBC staff member elsewhere that people should remember: "There are many teachers on h2g2, and on the wider BBC (and many others whose parents or family members are teachers) who could have taken offence to your postings."

Mol - on the new tablet

Wasn't that said after a wish to commit physical violence against a teacher was expressed on the site? Cos that's a bit different to the disaffection being expressed here.

People do get irked by teachers, as they do by doctors, nurses, council workers, journalists, vicars, lawyers, estate agents etc etc - most professions need a thick skin!

Very well.

I apologise to any people who have taken offence at the statements I have made on this forum.

In my own defense, I have had a generally negative experience of the educational system and given the subject matter of the main page of this forum I felt my experiences were relevant.

My experience of the education system was negative while I was at school, and has been negative all the time my son has been at school. It's only the Senco at this last school I feel really gives a damn about my child and his future.

And yeah, I still feel physically sick and brutally angry towards the man who was 'suspending' J constantly from his classroom without any sanctions from the school FOR TWO YEARS.
