New game ..well it's not really a game but this area seems to attract lateral thinkers.
Some words just don't make sense etymologically speaking -
Take "Emergency" - if the root word is emerge how come you go in to it and not out?
And as Trillion suggested:
"Manouevres" - Men don't lay eggs do they?

Superannuation - what's 'super' about being put out to pasture, cast aside by the turbo charged hurly burly..
Demonstrators - aren't all demons, some are quite peaceful really.
Chagrin - is nothing to smile at.

Nursing sharks - I mean really!
Earth Mothers - I wouldn't want to labor under that delusion!
Shiftless - changes gears automatically?
Pedantry - a tree for ants to hang their shoes?

A "ture" is turban with three quarter length legs often finished with finely embroidered marzipan figures.
The word itself is a merging of part of a phrase found in Arthur Q Phartenbloe's semi-autobiographical novel: My Life with the Watoo-Watoo.
The phrase being "he was weighed down like a gnome in a clay ture"

perhaps derived from "GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL! he really pulled that one out of his hat" like ?
what i want to know is why you drive on a parkway, and park on a driveway? or is this just an american thing? i know brits call them car parks, but i kind of related that to being a large parking garage, or am i wrong?
and on the car park bit, do they have swings and slides and round-a-bouts, or just picnic areas?
