Thanks for that very detailed guide on how to adopt an Entry Oojakapiv.
I'll have to learn how to create a link before I can put anything into effect though!
That's great, JulesK, I owe you!
Well, let's wait and see what happens over the next couple of weeks or so; there's no hurry right now. But I have spent about 2 hours looking at the culture of the Sefton coast towns in general and Little Crosby, on-line.

Creating a link to an entry is as simple as typing A4113839

That's OK, frontiersman, it's my job to help out where I can and it's even better when it also makes me sharpen my own performance by having to dig deep into my knowledge (or lack of it!) about hootoo

frontiersman, I'd love to help out with this entry if you want, I think this entry is eminently salvageable and could be quite interesting.
The author of this entry had also written an entry on Crosby and Waterloo, and the two entries could easily be worked together

Welcome, Pardner!
You're on board, HonestIago!
It will be great if we can knock something together together!
(If you can stand my weird ways with words, that is).
Seriously, I suggest that we approach the whole bit by writing about the Sefton coastline chain of towns in general, all of which share a common interest, and work in partnership to prevent the erosion of their wonderful sand-dunes and wider beaches, which are among the rarest and richest habitats for wildlife in the world.
I personally do not know much about the general culture of the region in terms of institutions, personalities, politics or social issues, but it is a wealthy area; once, if not still, the home of the Liverpool stockbroking community. The Liverpool Stock Exchange no longer exists, but its former members are probably still very much in evidence.
It has the famous Merchant Taylor's School, in Crosby. Southport is part of the region, but has a slightly different coastline, where the sea is so far from the shore as to be almost absent at times. There is a very long pier which has a railway to reach the end! I think it's the world's longest pier. If one goes by train from Liverpool Exchange station to Southport, which runs a long way up the coast with sea views, there are long stretches of golf-links. There is also the famous Golf Club at Ainsdale, a world-class venue.
I suggest the 'regional' approach mainly because I, personally, do not know enough about the small community of Little Crosby itself to merit an Entry of any substance.
See what you can 'dig up' from the Internet. I have printed a few sheets off the sites relating to the area.
I leave you to decide what you want to do after reading my reply. You might have better ideas of how to tackle the Entry. If so, you can plan our procedure!

Oh yes, and as you suggest H. I., Waterloo could be linked to the whole.

Perhaps, frontiersman, we could do an article on the Sefton Coastal Footpath, it'd mean we could write about all the towns from Crosby to Southport and get them in the EG. It also means that smaller towns and villages like Little Crosby and Hightown, where there is relatively little to say could be included as parts of a greater work. I've always wanted to get my corner of the country on here and the coastal footpath seems a good way to link the different areas

Right, H. I.,
You're a Sefton coast local! That's a great start; you'll know a good deal more than me though, so it'd better be your Entry! But that's very good news. You'll know the coastal footpath well, no doubt. I don't know it at all; my interest stems from 50 years ago when I used to go regularly to Formby Point in a little caravan, amongst the sandhills, belonging to some business friends of my parents. So, I'm not half as well qualified to write on the area as yourself. All I can do is write 'second hand' from a little on line research and a bit of general feeling about the place. I bet they don't allow caravans that near to the sea any more. It is now very conservation conscious, attempting to prevent the coastal erosion of the dunes. By the way , I think I meant Royal Birkdale Golf Club as the most famous one in Sefton, not Ainsdale.

Right, I'll make a start pretty soon then, any input you've got would be great,
Would i have to quote the Little Crosby and Waterloo pieces if I start a new entry, but use some of the details? Anybody know?

I don't know H.I., but a passing acknowledgement wouldn't go amiss if we do use some of its material.
We shall need to get some sort of approval, do you think?
