Well I'm pleased to see everyone has said they're sorry..what's this about animated smileys, they've had them on other parts of the internet for months now...just another example of h2g2 being behind the times *phew, wipes brow...I'm glad I got that off my chest... must dash

well, to be fair, rotating colour palettes isn't really animation. Not since the old Z80 days anyway.

Much longer than that. The "disco" one was the earliest animated h2g2 smiley. It wasn't in the first ever h2g2 smiley set but had been added by 2002.

Perhaps not, but checking the existing list of smileys, eg via <./>Smiley</.>, certainly matters when attempting to campaign for a new one. The people asking for something which already exists just end up looking foolish!
