h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Grr... Grrr.... Grrrr....

Our PBS station in Gainesville,FL(usa)decided to run the entire TV series back-to-back on Saturday pm after the movie opening on Friday pm. This provided amazing character contrasts...as well as residual confusion over virtually everything. Trillian, in the TV series was like: "lady-of-the-night-trailer-trash works her way to a math/science doctorate" but hasn't found a job, so far ... a tough caricature. The movie Trillian was, for me (an old rights activist), more believable. I thought I saw a someGeorge Bush in the Zaphod character.

I thought the TV Trillian looked like an unemployed porn star wannabe.

That's true, but this one just looked stupid and ugly. And she was too up herself.

So, whom would you have suggested as a suitable substitute?

Oh, now, that's a difficult one. Can I phone a friend?

What? I thought she was quite tasty.

I liked her socks.

Stupid and ugly? Got to disagree. Trillian never came across as very bright in the other media to me - she just got the lines that didn't fit anyone else's character.

Up herself? Maybe, but she's a nice enough lass all told. I reckon Arthur's pretty lucky, although in the radio version he's done even better and got Jane Horrocks.
