you might not be aware (as suggested by "I know that changing the plot slightly from that of the books wouldn't have upset him — in fact, I think he probably would have liked it") but DNA actually wrote the screenplay!smiley - biggrin so he did like it very much. the only cchanges that were made were to introduce new special effects that have only just been developed.smiley - smiley

Sorry this took *so* long to respond to (yes, I know, three months) - I really ought to have subscribed to the article...

But yes, I did know DNA wrote the screenplay. I was telling it to all my friends. I suppose it slipped my mind when I was writing this article, as all I could think about was how upset my American friends (I'm American) were that the movie's plot was different from the book. They only know the book, they don't even know that the radio series existed first, and so they somehow thought that it was disrespectful to DNA's memory that the movie's plot was different. I got rather tired of explaining, I'm sure you'll understand!
