A Small Maths Challenge
Where have the 'The h2g2 Post' quizzes gone? With this in mind I thought that a mathematical quiz wouldn't hurt! I also sort of don't know what to write about.
Here we go:
A sports club providing facilities for bowls, darts and tennis has 35
active members. Of the 9 tennis players, one plays only tennis and one
plays all 3 sports. The 23 other members who play 1 sport only comprise
two-thirds of the darts section and one-half of the bowls section. Use a
Venn diagram to determine how many people play bowls.
That's a pretty touch question. Post your answers on the forum.
Answer and how-to-do-it in next column!
If you've got any ideas on topics I could write in this column, just drop a
note!
