h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I met Anthony Head who played Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer a few times years ago when he was in the Rocky Horror Show (just at the stage door for autographs). When he finished doing that, he was in a play called 'The Heiress' - brilliant, but poles apart from Rocky! My friend had interviewed him for her college magazine, and got in touch to let him know we'd be coming to see the play. We stood outside the stage door once it had finished and he stuck his head out of the window and invited us up to the bar for coffee.

We were all about 18 and very star-struck, but he was LOVELY, bought me a cup of tea, signed our programmes and talked to me about my A-levels. I got a kiss on the cheek as he left, which I was very chuffed about.

He was best known at that time for the Gold Blend adverts, and it was great to see him hit 'the big time' with Buffy!

It was an encounter I remember mostly because he was so nice and funny, and because he sent me a petition against the live transportation of horses afterwards! (He and his wife run an animal 'therapy' centre).

Blimey, you can tell how it's stuck in my memory - 14 years later and I can still burble on about it for ages...
