A Conversation for Talking Point: Have You Ever Met Anyone Famous?
On people who'd be out of a hobbie if there were no celebs.

I have nothing against celebritys, or fans. It makes sense- if there is a pop/rock(or what ever your taste is.)band that you like, you'll want to go enjoy their music at conserts, buy CD's and maybe murchandise.
What I struggle to understand is the 'celeb culture' where people feel the need to follow celeb's lives by, buying magazines with pictures that have quite obviously been taken without knowlege/consent of the people in question, read about private stuff like who they're going out with or their familys etc, and chase them down the street screaming for autographs if the oppertunity presents itself.
Anyone have an explanation to why this is so popular?
