I met Harry Secombe twice. Once when I was serving in a Naval Hospital in Malta, where Harry was making a visit to various Navy units. This was in about 1966 if I remember correctly. Second time I met him was in a lift in a hotel in Birmingham, about 10 years ago. I said hello and told him I had met him before (30 years earlier), but I don't think he remembered me!
He was very pleasant and polite, a real gentleman.
Yuri Gagarin

I met Yuri Gagarin at the Soviet Exhibition at Olympia when he was doing his World Tour(?) after his historic flight around our planet in outer space. He had the most amazingly bright eyes, a blue of the best sky ever and full of a joy that I imagine came from the wonder of the sights he had seen. Still my hero.
