A Conversation for Buckaroo Banzai

Buckaroo Banzai is one of my fave movies of all times. It's the one time I actually joined a fan club, which, at the time, was being headed by an employee of 20th Century Fox. I even threw BB parties and field trips to see "Pinky Caruthers'" band play at local clubs. Alas, the club faded and no one seems to have any interest in the sequel Earl Mac Rauch wrote a treatment for. You'd think it could be at least made as a direct-to-video or sold to cable or sumthin.

Oh, if only it would...smiley - smiley

I've not joined a fan club, or anything like that, mainly because no one I know has seen the film or even heard of it. Such a shame! It's lack of popularity is astonishing when you consider the wealth of talent in the cast.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Thanks for the great synopsis GURUdener.

I can't believe there was no interest (especially at the time) of making a sequel. Several ultimately successful franchises started with supposed "bombs" didn't they? I also thought BB was a big enough cult hit that it would be out on DVD. I guess that's not going to happen in the near future, though.

I'd love to hear more about this treatment that Earl Mac Rauch wrote. Wonder what the story was?

Thanks. glad you liked it.smiley - smiley

This was originally written for my friend Fenchurch's thing about cult movies. I don't think it's been reactivated yet, unfortunately.
