this totally blows me away
i cannot believe these people did this to this poor guy
Lord Wolfden had struggled with muscular dystrophy from the age of 9
the image i get as i read this thread (in Lord Wolfden's message center)
is of a big lame bear bewildered by it all
little skinny feral hyenas darting in, nipping, darting out, laughing
some even came back after HE was banned to gloat
and i have looked elsewhere and he didnt do anything wrong
not like this hostility…. he was not hostile, only sometimes socially awkward.
and some of these folks are huge names in the community
thats what blows me away the most
i am ashamed to be a part of this place
no one stood up for him in this thread
if i had been here i would have
i would have gathered others too
we would have formed a phalanx
against
this
evil
Lord Wolfden lost his place where he could chat it up
he died 3 years later, but
there is a possibility he found more welcoming places on the internet
but as you all say… h2g2 is unique… and parts of it can be wonderful
but the stench from where i sit is just too overpowering for me to stand
the only way this can change for me and for h2g2 is if those bear baiters
apologise
and demonstrate that they understand what they did wrong
here
in this thread
i have so much more to say but i am just so so angry
this is outrageous!
One thing I will apologise for is not explaining to Lord Wolfden how this thread appeared on his PS (I *think* it was because Footie put up a post box on another A page somewhere and when people posted in it, it came here. There's one to the 'blame 2legs' thread on my PS if you want to see how that works). He most likely wouldn't have known about that technology and it's certainly something I would point out now. >>and i have looked elsewhere and he didnt do anything wrong Unfortunately he did do things wrong, and there is plenty of evidence of that on site. You might want to have a read of the Editors' post on this too: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/F2095978?thread=2390870 My own feeling is that he was incapable of adjusting to fit in here. I'm sorry that is true, because other than the actions that were spissing people off, he was an ok dude. I do agree that there was behaviour from other researchers that crossed way over the line, and that it's not a time that h2 can be proud of.
this is outrageous!
There is *significant* context to this thread. Either you don't know about that context, or you do and we disagree on its importance.
Certainly this thread is not my finest hour, but I'm feeling like I'm being set up here somehow. I've been honest about how I feel and expressed regret for what happened. I've also apologised for leaving Wolfden in the dark about something I consider he was quite entitled to know. I suspect I'm unlikely to give you exactly what you want though.

Fluffy,
I attempted to engage with Wolfden online. All was going well, until he told me not to interfere, or tell him what to do.
He was not the easiest person to be friends with.
I think his threads, and all other deceased friends' threads should now be left quietly. Allowing them a dignified exit from Hootoo.
lil xx

Could someone just spell out clearly what happened with Lord Wolfden. I never had a problem with him..but now I come across this.
What actually happened?
this is outrageous!
Effers;England. Posted Jul 2, 2011
Yeah so maybe you could explain the 'context' kea?
this is outrageous!
I mean that this thread stands amongst a whole lot of other stuff that was going on at the time and reading it out of that context doesn't make much sense.
I do agree with lil here though (thanks lil), that Wolfden deserves to be left in peace here
I'm going to unsubscribe.
this is outrageous!

Yes but not spelling this out can mess with people's heads. Why the secrecy?
this is outrageous!
Effers;England. Posted Jul 2, 2011
He's dead. We're alive.
He'll rest in peace whatever.
Seriously stuff like this freaks me out..and there's been plenty of that already tonight to do with all this obsessive work for the 'Foundation'.

You think he was incapable of adjusting to to fit in here? Unlike you of course?

Hey Wolfie I'm apologising on behalf of us as a community and hopefully we can learn from this to stop similar sht in the future.

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Jul 2, 2011
The problem is that we, as a community, cannot be expected to compromise the House Rules just for one person, regardless of what they may or may not be suffering from, because then we have to do it for everyone.
I, and many others, tried to deal with LW calmly and politely to start with and I, like many others, simply lost my patience with him. It wasn't a case of immediately jumping on him as soon as he appeared, which is how it seems to have been interpreted. Several of us tried to engage with him and get him to actually contribute but when you've seen "drank tea" or "fish swam" for the hundredth time (and it got even worse when he kept posting and posting while on pre-mod) it starts to wear a little thin. I'm not proud of what I did, but I am only human (topped off with various little issues and neuroses that do make it difficult for me to deal with people sometimes).

Also, what is gained by dredging this up now?
