Hi,
Right, the original has now gone from the University's website.

Hi Again,
Actually, I should probably add that the article is still available on my own website (which did not exist when I first wrote this article), but my attitude towards copyright on these articles is basically: feel free to use it, but please give me credit.

I've already stated my liking for this entry - can we get some more Scouts and PR regulars looking this one over?

This is a terribly interesting entry, I think, and I, as someone who has no previous knowledge of the subject, certainly found it accessible and understandable.
However, I'm a little concerned about the 'current' tone in the entry. The very fact that the facilities are currently being upgraded and will be finished some time in the future is guaranteed to date the entry once the updates are completed. Just a few phrases like 'at the time of writing...' would work very well towards making sure the entry doesn't become too out-of-date.

Thanks for your comments echomikeromeo, I'm glad you enjoyed it! You have a good point actually, it does sound very current (a side effect of it being originally written for a newsletter). I've edited some of it to sound a bit less in the present tense, is that any better?

...also, I'm not happy with the full title as it now stands which, assuming h2g2 lasts long enough, will reach its future - which will then become its past (I'm not feeling very eloquent at the moment, so hope that makes sense?).
The title could just be 'The UK's National VLBI Facility'. Much of the content could remain largely unchanged.

As it is about the upgrade from MERLIN to e-MERLIN specifically, rather than the telescope in general, how about something like "The Upgrade of the National VLBI Facility" ?

Well, would it be a lot of work to broaden it to ber about the telescope and its role in general? (I thought there was a bit of this in it anyway?

Um, well I could modify it that way, but there are other things I should be doing... Actually, there is so much there that I could write a whole other article on the telescope in general and the kind of things it observes (just not right now).

With the name change to 'The Upgrade of the National VLBI Facility', I think this is ready to go - just hang in there, Megan, there are some techie problems with the servers they have to sort out before anyone can pick entries!
Congratulations - Your Entry has been Picked for the Edited Guide!

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.
If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.
Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!

Well done Megan. It's possible that the title will be changed to make it more accessible to the layman, but the entry will be getting its day on the Front Page and its place in the EG. I'm very glad to have been able to recommend this one.
