It's over twenty years ago now that a friend of our family had a fancy key ring that he told someone to hide in a place where he might be allowed to look for it. The keyring was placed in the staircase cupboard.
He smiled a broad grin and then whistled, and the keys whistled back at him! He kept whistling until he was able to pinpoint them.

Get some whistling keyrings and attach one to each important item!
If one shouted, they would shout back, and if one ****** they would **** back! Rude b***ers!

You can think of some peculiar things to attach them to, it's great fun!

You might wish to cinsider re-naming this entry 'Why Things Get lost' or something similar, since you don't seem very upbeat about our powers of organisation, our chances of not losing things, or our chances of finding them again. If you want to keep it as it is, then I feel that you might need to add more practical advice, more statistical facts on losing and finding things, or even philosophical advice on coping with loss!

Anything to flesh it out, really.

I'll second that, if I can.

Is seconding something anyone can do, or just scouts and the like?

No worries.

I think that's fair enough.

Educate me please, Emmily: What on earth does the term 'Elvised' mean? Can't find a definition in my COD. Is it specific to h2g2?

It means that the Researcher in question is deemed to be no longer active, and comes from: 'Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building'.

Ah! That's what comes of being ancient like me Oojakapiv!
I remember Elvis well, but who on earth doesn't, even today's children?
But I could not make that clever connection to the term. Thanks for the enlightening!

Well I know that you've got a few years on me Ron, but we're both of an age to be able to remember Elvis when he was still halfway decent smiley - winkeye

Touche! Ooj.
But I was under the impression that you were a mere youngster; a whizz-kid in his prime!
