The h2g2 Poem

An Artist's Fear

It can be hard for an artist

When they seek inspiration

For others have already found it

And their work looks amazing.

Then, as you sit by waters side

And have the urge to paint

You know you can't compete

With what has come before.

People come from all around

To see the same lake

And their work is on show

With a price tag to match.

Framed prints cost so much

It makes so little sense

Until I compare it to my work.

Then I go on and realise

The truth of the matter.

It is because they are good

And the beauty of the scenery

Makes people pay the price.

And I question inside myself;

'Will I ever be that good?'

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
