The best bet, then, would be to write some Entries to help you get to know the writing guidelines and House Style. Once you've written a few, they might consider you

The subbing test was really hard. I had to write 140 solo Edited Entries.

I just checked: I had two edited entries (solo) when I became a sub. Had to pass a test first, though.
