Of course I would never try and bribe you or influence your decision as to whether to let me become a sub-editor. I just feel that having a trained chef on the team may be beneficial in some way. Especially when I read the coversations that go ahead of mine!!!

I have no qualifications or experience in editing entries, however I am often asked to proof read my friends and colleagues letters, essays and job applications. I enjoy messing about with words and love making sentences and paragraphs flow.

I am currently stsying at home with my baby son who is a bit poorly, so I would appreciate the mental stimulation offered by this work.

I also forgot to put my number on the application - 561975.

I am a new to this and still have the added bonus of being a qualified chef. smiley - kiss

Well, desertorchid, you at least have the distinction of making me laugh here - I certainly appreciate the talents of a good chef, as my tubby tummy would probably suggest. smiley - biggrin

As sub-editing does involve quite a good knowledge of h2g2's GuideML, I'm currently looking for people who I can see have shown evidence on site of their abilities. This isn't to say you're not qualified, but it'd be great to see you getting involved in the Community a bit before we submit you to the rigours of subbing.

Why not chip in with suggestions or just just helpful encouragement to other writers in Peer Review? Or maybe even write an entry of your own (you might have already noticed we do a lot of recipes here as they're a nice 'entry-level' subject for many Researchers).

It's great to have you aboard h2g2 - hope you enjoy looking around!

Regards,

Jimster

I'm glad I made you laugh. I understand what you are saying. Just call it beginners over-enthusiasm. The text stuff does look a little daunting. The writing I can do, but the technical stuff is going to take a while to get the hang of.

Read that as I haven't got the foggiest how to do the tech stuff. Be warned - I will be back, armed with the right tools for the job!!!
