I would like to apply for the subeditor position. As a good university student, I am always able to make free time for things I enjoy, and this is much better than video games.I have a fairly good command of the English language; I was an editor of my school's yearbook in high school for two years. However, I'm not sure of the passing system in the UK so I'm not exactly positive what A-levels. I have a computer in my room as well, which has word and notepad. I'm not positive of what else to put. I do edit a few of my friends' papers as well. Thank you very much for your consideration.

You don't have anything directly equivalent to A-levels that you can quote as grades - but that doesn't matter - you don't have to be a genius on paper anyway. Good spelling and grammar and the time and equipment to do the job are the only requirements. Bribing the Italics can help too...

Bribing, eh? Is money preferrable to food? Or vice versa?

Depends what food, I suppose. But it could take a *lot* of food. (Maybe less so now that there's just Jimster and Natalie)
Maybe a better solution would be to wait for Jimster's response and hope that you get accepted. It's not something you have to fight to do - if you want to and you offer the right quality of subbing skills (which is something that can be best determined by giving you a chance to show them off), then they'd have to be mad to stop you!
Good luck with your application - if you've any questions about being a Sub, I'm onhand (although my subbing is on a 6-month pause at the moment for my exams)...

Thank you very much for the support!
I'll have to go put the baking supplies back now :D

'The Queen of 42', eh? Well as I like to think Deep Thought actually meant 'Fortitude', you might well be the sort of person we're looking for
I'll be in touch shortly by email with the standard subbing test, so keep an eye on your in-box, Matchgirl.
