A Conversation for Volunteer to be a Sub-editor
Volunteering to sub (06/02/2003)

It's been far too long since I've actually done anything to help out the community. .. therefore, I'm volunteering to be a sub.
.. I did do this at one point in the past (way, way back), but I never ended up with enough free time to subedit things. One of my problems at the moment is that aside from short spasmodic periods of phenomenal workload, I have a lot of unproductive free time in which I have precious little to do. Since my only reason for being unable to subedit in the past (because I'd like to) was my lack of time, this works out rather well. I don't know why I didn't volunteer before.

I'm a BA Philosophy Student (at least until the end of the week), so clear prose is my business, and I got an A for English Literature at A-Level, so I should be able to write properly. .. (I also have a parent who works as a subeditor, so I'm quite used to having my work subedited {and subediting his..
}.. so I'm not entirely devoid of experience, either.
)
Hoping I can help!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
