unsubscribing from old threads

Hi there all you froody gooroos, smiley - smiley

I've been looking at my old conversations and there are some 5500 odd! smiley - yikes

I don't think it's actually doing any harm being subscribed to them all (they're mostly old PR threads) but i'm wondering if there is some easy way to unsubscribe 'en masse'.

I guess i'm not sure it'd be such a great idea anyhoos, cos there's no doubt some in there that i'd rather know if they ever awake from obscurity for some reason...

just wondrin' if there was some trick i don't know about.

ta in advance for any help

there certainly wasn't pre upgrade and i had hoped that it might have been part of it. But unless something has been changed that hasn't yet been announced, then not as far as i know smiley - erm

So that the people returning at a later time and being confused can't reach you. That's a good Ace! smiley - erm

hiya, and thanks for the response, smiley - smiley

I was mostly thinking of unsubing from old PR threads.

Does it take up server space, being subbed to a thread?

Hello Mina, :) funny, you crop up in this thread, and just afterwards, on page 'skip=5275' I stumble upon http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F77636?thread=162338 I'm only unsubbing from dead PR threads though, so i guess i'll leave that one. Not that i'm expecting it to rise from the dead... :-D btw, do you happen to know whether having so many researchers subscribed to 1000s of 'dead' threads takes up server resources? spiff

Subscribing to a thread would add a little bit of data to the constantly-growing database, which I heard is a few gigabytes in size just now. However, unless that data was requested, no server time would be used, just a little bit of memory. smiley - smiley
