Zarniroop (er.... I'll think of something amusing to put here soon!) Started conversation Jul 26, 2000
Just posting this in the hope that some one will look at it and comment on how it reads (points out typo's etc) and hopefully I'll get some good advice to make a brilliant entry.
Thanks!

I enjoyed the article, by the way, but I felt it was rooted too much in your own personal experience of the festival. My understanding of the Guide is that they prefer articles not to be too subjective. Try putting yourself in the shoes of someone who has never heard of the Glastonbury Festival. Why should they think about going? What sort of people does it tend to attract? etc...
A bit more information about the history and general background of the festival would also be useful. Some information about access would come in handy too.
But I definitely think this is a subject that should be included in the Guide.
A few other points I noticed (there may be others, I'm in a bit of a hurry here) :-
'nondescript' rather than 'non-discript'
Somerset with a capital 'S'.
Perhaps you could 'bullet-point' the 'Things to do' section, to make the separate points stand out more clearly.

Good, I liked it (I just skimmed through it, so I didn't catch any typos or spelling) - maybe a section on how to get a ticket, maybe a bit on the history (these are just things I would like to see

Thanks Crescent!
You wanted History, you got it! It's as condensed as I could make it without missing anything out, and it still seems to go on forever! Z.

Yeah, this has come on a long way since the last time I looked at it. Nice work. I like the section on the history of the festival - that's the kind of thing I read the Guide for. But how about breaking it down into separate paragraphs, for improved readability? Or, better still, bullet-pointing each separate year that you've mentioned - in other words, making it more of a list-type thing. Just an idea...
All the best, Lear

Paragraphs would be good, though it looks like a lot of work to seperate it into bullet points. Then again the sub-ed (whoever the lucky gadgee is) can do the paragraphs thing Until later.....

It is a good article - though the middle section needs work. Split it into paragraps or something. Couple of typos as well. Can't remember where now, but wanging it through a spell checker should do the trick...
Strange - me mum lives in Glastonbury, and I've yet to get myself down to the fesival...

Good entry - although everyone I know who went says that 2000 was the *worst* festival yet...

Hey Peeps!
Thanks for the nice comments, I thought Bolding the years would be the best thing, tho maybe para's will help. I think bullets would make it look longer and be more off putting.
Typo's will get sorted on my next update!
How do I goabout getting it submitted?
Very smiley and gratefull,

A Scout will come along and recommend it for Entry to The Edited Guide. The Towers review it, if it passes it goes to the SubEds for tidying up, spelling checked etc. it is then reviewed again by The Towers, who then place it in the queue for the Front Page However, until the queue for the old system is finished the Scouts are only picking a handful a week, however the old queue is almost done
So patience is all you need
Hope this helps, until later....

Reckon it has! Great article and you've obviously spent a deal of time doing the checking thing.
I know you siad that the middle '8' goes on a bit, but it reads well nonetheless...perhaps you could bullet it, date wise, like you did in the last couple of headed paragraphs; might break it up a little! Definitely a worthy one. You might like to look in the plain and simple Guide Entries ( as opposed to Edited Entries ), there are several bits nad bobs about the Festival that might A)come in useful or B) give you a contact and you can pool your resources and have a mega, jointly researched piece about that wunnerful event!!
Good stuff!
