What an amazingly compelling story to read and thank you for sharing your memory
I did not know that about the dolphin midwives even though I wrote A13900042 with the assistance of other reviewers in Peer Review. My "Whaling and Whale Protection" Entry was featured on the front page (went *live*) on the day my father passed away so it has special significance for me and I still think it's my best work.
Strangely I watched a programme on TV last night about the possibility of alien life, and how they would communicate with us if they visited Earth. Turns out they wouldn't communicate with us, they'd choose the whales to converse with, because their language is more complex than ours.
We definitely need a smiley

Dear galaxie Babe,
Thank you for your kind comments. Actually I had no idea it was going to be in the Post and am really chuffed about it.
However, after I had written about this particular memory I started looking it up on the web, and then eventually someone - I think it was lil auntie giggles - guided me to the entries on whales on h2g2. There I saw your wonderful entry and all the other entries. I really knew nothing about whales when I wrote that memory down. so I thought it was a really tall story about there being dolpin midwives. I still do not know if that is true. It was what the manager of the hotel told me.
I loved the story of the aliens communicating with whales. I imagine there are quite a few members of the animal kingdom who are more intelligent.
Nice to hear from you again. Thank goodness for my computer. I would just grow old and like a vegetable. !1
With all good wishes.

Hi - lovely story and I have (somewhere) heard something similar before. I certainly have first hand experience of dolphins protecting other mamals (in this case me) from sharks.

Thank you so much for your kind words, Oedantuic #Bar Steward,
I would love to read about what happened to you. I know that it happenedin south #africa that some people whose boat had sunk were guidedback to shore by dolphins.
Have gone to your home page which I found fascinating and written to you there.
Go Well,
Christiane

Christiane, you will never grow old, you have too much spirit and a lively mind. Thank you for the story. I am so glad it found it's way in to and I hope you will find time to write many more of your reminiscences for us.
Such snippets from a fascinating life are such a joy to those of us who have had a more staid and uneventful life.
