I've attempted to start a discussion for 2130296 but I keep getting:

"Greetings unknown hiker

We're sorry, but you can't post to a Conversation until you've logged in to h2g2.
If you already have an h2g2 account, please click here to sign in.
If you haven't already become a member with us as a Researcher, please click here to become a member. Becoming a member is free and will enable you to share your wisdom with the rest of the h2g2 Community. Tell me more!.

Alternatively, click here to return to the Conversation without logging in."

This despite the fact that I'm logged in correctly and I don't get the same problem with other people, but get the usual "Post to a conversation" form - as indeed I did here.

I guess the reason is that U2130296 probably isn't a member of h2g2 but another message board, hence you caan't leave a message there smiley - smiley

most people have signed up on other boards and not h2g2 but I can still leave messages for them. I am one of the few people I know who originally registered with h2g2.

I know the link from My Discussions is broken - but I can't get that far, I can't even post

Maybe you have registered with some of the other messageboards ( after you joined h2g2 ) ? That would explain why you can leave messages to some, but not to others smiley - smiley

Thanks for your help guys, that's worked. I've registered with Radio 2 MB and now get the usual form so hopefully all will now be OK. I assumed that as I'm registered with h2g2 I could post to anyone on h2g2 but obviously not.

You can post to everybody who has registered with h2g2, but it's difficult to know if they have or not, because their pages are shown here, even if they have registered with other messageboards

These boards aren't quite as integrated as they might appear are they?

I'm not quite sure what you mean, they're all part of dna, but that's where any things they have in common with h2g2 stop smiley - erm

Whereas people's personal space pages used to show up (if they'd started one, which the new MBers aren't permitted to do despite having one allocated) on their lists. So you could tell what their site was that way. Also their journal and message centre threads used to indicate the actual dna sub-site (more features which have been disabled for MBers).

Not disabled, SEF. They weren't enabled in the first place.

I call that disabled. You are just trying to weasel with your use of words. Disabled people don't have to be later amputees, say. They can be born that way, but still be disabled in comparison with the features that other members of the same species are expected to have.
