Jim (or anybody) - I just discovered that, at least from within IE, I *can't* sign out!
I'm in the "Plain" skin. If I click the "Sign out" link on the left it tells me that I have just signed out, but leaves me signed in, with my name at the top and the "Sign out" link still there. If I click the "I'm not Peet (The Pe..." link I'm taken to a page that says "This page has moved - do you want to Sign Out or Register?" - on clicking "Sign Out" it says "Please wait while you are redirected to your Personal Space" and returns me to my PS, *still* signed in!
Bizzarre.

Have you tried it within other skins? Perhaps it's a problem with the plain skin.
(But I wouldn't put it past IE to have a bug.)

I haven't yet... I went to Opera and did a "Delete private data" to get rid of the BBC cookie, and that did the trick for me.

The plain skin is missing the SSO toolbar, so the Sign Out link won't work, I'm afraid.

Fair enough, Jim; lust so long as I know...
I rarely need to sign out, which is why it took me so long to notice this.

Jim, a thought just occured to me. If plain users can never sign out, then they never sign in either, and thus are disenfranchised from the BBC "survey" that's going on at the moment. Basically, that means the survey is missing out on the more technically minded users...
Just a thought I hope you will pass on at your next meeting with the suits.

Given that it's pretty difficult to start using h2g2 in plain, I don't think there's a significant problem.

Traveller in Time not signing out (on some systems)
"I had the survey, as announced it was only triggered by visiting the < <./>FrontPage</.> > nothing to do with the SSO.
This conversation about the plain skin seems to me like a 'Day Jah View'. Is it something like a yearly progress failing report ? ( missing the conversations search )"

Oh, OK, TiT. A couple of folk were talking about getting the survey when they logged on, so I just assumed that was the common factor, rather than the fact they were coming in through the front page. My bad.
Key: Complain about this post
