A Conversation for h2g2 Feedback - Feature Suggestions

"Ignore this Conversation"

Some fora are such that a large number of people participate, each for a short time only. For example, sign-up theads for popular clubs like HRASC, or the threads off the user-name analysis page.

Wouldn't it be nice to have an "Ignore this Conversation" button, so people could reduce the clutter in their "most recent conversations" section?

I thought so.

I'd be willing to bet the Team is working on that idea.

You are correct, the ability to unsubscribe from threads should be in one of the future releases of the site.

This feature will be introduced on the next site update, which should take place within a month... smiley - smiley

Personally I can't wait. After 18 months of posting to conversations in h2g2 I have thousands and thousands of active conversations... smiley - smiley

on a similar note...
It would be good to be able to bookmark fora, and it would be good to be able to bookmark pages, so that all fora attached to it got insta-bookmarked.

In effect you'll be able to bookmark conversations once you can unsubscribe from those you don't want to follow. I don't think that bookmarking pages and all the fora would work as well, because normally you just want to follow a few individual fora, and where there are a lot of conversations, like in Ask h2g2, you certainly *wouldn't* want to subscribe to them all. smiley - smiley

Well, to give an example, I quite like Magnolia's username analysis page, and I'd like to bookmark all entries that come off that, so I can have a look.

Ditto for (for example) the FFFF, the Atheism entry, possibly the AI entry, some of my entries and some of 'my' edited guide entries, and I'm still interested in (but not all of them).

Obviously, subscribing to 'ask h2g2' would be dumb... maybe you need to put an idiot filter in place...

Wow, a 23 month gap in postings. That's the longest *I've* seen. (I once saw a 20 monther in Writing Workshop, but that's not surprising.)
