This is an area which isn't covered in the Guide. Any suggestions on how to make this more interesting/useful gratefully accepted as always. I did quite a bit of research on this one, but am quite happy to do more if needed!

Hiya David B.!

Glad to hear there's singing allowed (aloud?) in SOME libraries!!!

I do have one suggestion, for a potential additional type of 'cast recording'. Let me, for the moment, refer to it as a pre-cast recording.

When Andrew Lloyd Weber (he hadn't been knighted yet) and Tim Rice wrote 'Jesus Christ Superstar', they wanted to see if the music was good before arranging for theatrical investment. Their theory was that, if a musical was to succeed, it needed to have great music. To that end, they decided to create an album, and see if it sold well.

To advertise the album, they created music videos of selections from the musical. So, in this case, they videos came before the album, which came before the production; and, therefore, before the 'original cast'.

Tim Rice used the same philosophy for the musical 'Chess'. And, on the compilation of Chess music videos (Chess Moves), he discusses that philosophy.

I hope that this suggestion won't pose a problem.

The concept album! Of course, how could I forget that? I shall add that in as soon as possible.

I like this very thorough, and a subject which needs to be told.
Keep on writing smiley - biggrin

Thanks, DavidB, for the enthusiastic acceptance of my humble suggestion. Yes, this looks just great, and I loved the succinctness with which you incorporated it!

I look forward to seeing it in the EG.

Your Guide Entry has just been picked from Peer Review by one of our Scouts, and is now heading off into the Editorial Process, which ends with publication in the Edited Guide. We've therefore moved this Review Conversation out of Peer Review and to the entry itself.

If you'd like to know what happens now, check out the page on 'What Happens after your Entry has been Recommended?' at EditedGuide-Process. We hope this explains everything.

Thanks for contributing to the Edited Guide!
