Clearing something the supporters of Celery and Webjello clearly didn't consider when mounting their campaign, that they would be two votes worse off than every other camp, as every other camp has two vote guarenteed that of Prez nad Vice Prez candidates. Ah well I knew that ploy of theirs would backfire at some point.
BTW do me and Joanna need to declare *all* our alternate personas.

As far as the Celery's campaign staff goes, each of us as researchers will decide who gets our vote, same as the campaign staff of other candidates. I, for one, will certainly vote for The Celery.
That brings us to the votes of the candidates themselves -- those listed on the slate who have fulfilled all the requirements of the race. Normally it would be assumed that they would be allowed to vote as well. The Celery and Dolores, belonging to a category other than standard researchers, have long realized that they might not be permitted to vote in the election, despite being candidates. This certainly did not, and shall not, deter them from their goals to serve h2g2.
The Celery would like to thank Peregrin for bringing up the issue and pushing for the right for all candidates to vote for themselves. He feels this was a very generous move on Peregrin's part. And while both The Celery and Dolores Webjello would enjoy the opportunity to cast their votes in this election, they will graciously defer to the decisions of Shazz and Pastey in this matter.
Either way, they are enjoying the campaign, and remain confident of the outcome.
It should be noted that The Celery cannot speak for The Masque on this issue, who is a creation of a different sort.

... which doesn't mean the Masque wouldn't be voting. According to rumours, Irving isn't going to vote, which should give Red a perfecly fair chance for voting although he is a "creation" as you say.
Unfortunately that doesn't apply to me... I'll just have to see what I can do to get to vote legally myself...

I feel I ought to point out that if h2g2 creations are allowed to vote, there's going to be no end to the trouble. For example, we could let all six million ants in Amy's old colony join my presidential team and vote for me.
I think the best way to look at The Celery's case is that if his team hadn't thought of using a h2g2 creation, they would have used one of themselves as the candidate, eg. Redbeard. This would not make any difference to the votes they receive - Redbeard would vote for his team whether he's the candidate or not. Allowing The Celery and Webjello to vote would actually ADD two votes to their campaign, NOT make it equal to the others.

We have always understood the problem with allowing h2g2 creations to vote in this election. Clearly that would not be workable. So we were perfectly prepared for the fact that we would likely have to operate without the votes of The Celery and Dolores Webjello themselves.
It was your inspired suggestion earlier in this thread, Peregrin, of giving a specific right to the candidates themselves to vote, that led us to hope that our candidates might be allowed to vote. However, as we've said, we have no problems either way.
As far as the notion of us running one of the staff for Prez if 'we hadn't thought of using' The Celery -- well, I can't speak for the other staff members, but I personally have no interest in being Virtual Prez. I don't know who I'd support if The Celery wasn't running, but fortunately I don't have to think about it. I support The Celery!
who are prez people?
Styx the Rat Posted Aug 21, 2000
I look at voting page and see 12 prez people.
Post lady say prez people have to have picture on funny picture page, and their own prez page, and write something for the Post.
I look at prez pages and see only 11
I look at pictures and see only 10 prez people
I look at Post and see writing of only 10 prez people - not same 10
So how many prez persons are there? Rats can count.

Good point Styx!
If YOU are confused, imagine how I feel!
I am not really sure why DD and Joanna haven't come up with a picture for the Gallery. Perhaps they were afraid of being accused of over-exposure... they have both featured in quite a few *Meet* pictures after all. I think that the 11th candidates will not be a problem... they applied and then have not been heard of since! A case of *Out of sight, out of mind* I suspect... not any competition there!
Who are the pair who haven't written a piece for the Post then? That may be my fault, of course. It is hard to keep up with all the articles flying through the doors of the Post Office, especially as RL is taking up most of my time at the moment!

Post lady. I like reading about the prez people in the Post
I read most of them but maybe I miss one?
I don't think I see one for the crazy yellow fish.
Don't expect to find one for login guy. His home is cold. and even I can't get into his vice prez home.
