This is the discussion for those people interested in creating a (hopefully annual) writing contest for new researchers. We need to determine the following things:
Rules and guidelines
Promotion
Time frame
Judges
Prizes
Since it was my idea and since I am financing it, I think it should be called “The Alabaster House Writing Contest” or “The President's Prize” or something similar. Other than that, I would prefer for it to be a joint effort. So, please offer whatever suggestions you have in the appropriate conversations below.
There is no point doing something like this unless it is done well. So let's take our time and really think it through. It's important to anticipate problems and objections so we can counter them. Let's make sure that when it is announced, it will go smoothly.
