In response to the I don't agree with any of the parties it is difficult to find a member of any of the parties that agrees 100% wholeheartedly with everything that their party propose. However, members of the parties agree largely with the philosophy of that party and belief it can acheive the best result.
I think this is something that voters are not really aware of, they forget that there are debates within the party about policy and how to put this forward ant not everything is unanimously agreed.

Good point, I'll incorporate it. Thanks DD.
This is something I feel incredibly strongly about - that one should vote even if - especially if - one disagrees with all parties. I get really incensed about the falling turnout figures.
Thanks again.

It might also be worth mentioning that the only way to get a government that does everything that you want is to start a revolution and declare yourself dictator.
And whilst it seems like an attractive idea, it's not really a good career move, you tend to end up rather closly acquainted with Ice Picks.

It's worth noting that there are more than two parties, so if you disagree with both major parties, then maybe it's time to check out some of those fringe lunatic parties. Perhaps they're not as insane as they appear.
I would also say that it's not necessary to consider party positions on individual issues, just so long as you're aware of how that particular candidate stands. However, the Parliamentary system doesn't really lend itself to this sort of voting.

DD is quite right - I am very aware of the non-mainstream parties, I live in a seat which has a non-mainstream MP, for a start.
The main reason I hear that people don't vote is that they object to the two main parties - my purpose is to increase the turnout, not to promote any, alternative, mainstream or otherwise.
Now that the election has been called, we need to be very careful what we say on the site.
Cheers

Or at least on pages other than this..
Might be worth posting a link here?
I've taken the liberty of starting a jounral entry on this page so I can post a daily personal opinion of the election if I so wish. I'll bore them into submission.
