I totally agree with you, in fact the first time (and last) I ever tried Akvavit I immediately thought of a Pan-Galactic Garble Blaster. Of course I was wheezing too much to mention it.
The occasion was a VERY cold November day many years ago and many stories above ground for a topping off ceremony of a building in Calgary, Canada. I was taking photographs of the event, and afterwards, I grasped the Akvavit glass with my poor frozen fingers and downed it in one rather unfortunate gulp.
Suffice it to say I haven't ventured onto the roof of a building since. But my voice eventually came back.
