I could go on about this for ages but the ones I hate the most are the ones that get absorbed into everyday life without question. Like '24/7'.

What was so bad about the phrase 'round-the-clock'?

That's a good one to remember - do you think we could get the 'guests' on Jeremy Kyle's programme to adopt it?

Gee, I kinda like the economy of saying 24/7 and having people know exactly that you mean around the clock AND every day of the week. It also offers the option of saying 24/5, around the clock from Monday to Friday.

What I don't like is using knowns as verbs! As in:
I was tasked to prepare a month-end report.

Hoooboy!smiley - doh

smiley - towel

Using nouns as verbs...smiley - crosssmiley - grrsmiley - yuk... and it's *everywhere* now, not just offices.

In the last year or so anything wrong where I work has become an "opportunity." Some things actually are, of course - if you find a nasty bar towel behind the dishwasher it's clearly an opportunity to be smiley - ill But broken equipment isn't an opportunity for anything but injury and aggravation. smiley - grr again
