I'll answer any questions here. Especially if you want more detailed explanations of some of the topics mentioned and if asked i'll give the names of some books that are useful if you want to read further.

yes please why when hypnotised we remember all that had faded on our mental screen?
Any questions?
Pdmatthew - Probably In a corner somewhere with a guitar Posted Apr 22, 2005
Well theirs alot of theories ill come back with more, but one was freud's who thought that we held most of our information in the "Unconscious" and so when hypnotised it is the only time we can completely access this information.
P.s. hypnotism doesn't work on everybody so not everybody does this but the things i said in the article about mental cues (if you can reproduce a situation etc that you were in when doing something you can remember things in more detail that normal thats another reason why hypnotism works sometimes it allows you to reproduce cues that arent actually there).
Ill reply again later with anymore information that i think is necessary.

Now you see thats outo f my field, its not really a psychological issue rather than a spiritual one in my opinion most of them are having you on

'It also has a limited capacity of (7 +/- 2) these can be grouped e.g. 7+/-2 letters, Words, 7+/- 2 numbers...'
i might be being stupid, but as a layman, what does 7+/-2 mean
Any questions?
Pdmatthew - Probably In a corner somewhere with a guitar Posted Jun 24, 2005
5,7 or 9 groupable values like umm 7 Letters or 7 numbers or 7 words if they can be grouped to gether to make one understandable entity they can count as one. I mean most of the time when your reading this the capacity will be as words. B U T I F i were to write it like that then each letter would be understood singularly, so youd fit less in. If i write But if you fit more in.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm Im trying to think of a better way to explain well say you have 7 web spaces that you can advertise online now STM works like that you could either have 7 web sites YAHOO MSN HOOTOO etc or 7 pages YAHOO MAIL YAHOO GAMES etc as long as there are seven plus or minus two values it doesnt matter how they are represented
Any questions?
Pdmatthew - Probably In a corner somewhere with a guitar Posted Jun 26, 2005
Ok theres not -2 values, what im trying to say is that on average people can fit seven things into STM but sometimes its 5 sometimes its 9 so you say 7 (+/- 2) Understand now?
Any questions?
Pdmatthew - Probably In a corner somewhere with a guitar Posted Jun 27, 2005
thats ok im not great at explaining things, im the kind of writer that goes of on a tengent and thats fine for fiction but Science can get confusing

First I'd like to say to adder that he/she is not "thick", that is, except if I am too. I also understood only the last explanation there. Very interesting, yes.
Now my question. I have always had difficulties remembering numbers and now, more or less suddenly, I remember them easily, like phone numbers, and several of them, not just one. How come? Is there an easy explanation or is it 'just one of those things'?
Any questions?
Pdmatthew - Probably In a corner somewhere with a guitar Posted Jul 5, 2005
There is an easy explanation, all your life the more you learn the more your mind trains itself, so pretty much youve trained youself (Unconsciously) to remember things better
Any questions?

Don't worry, I wasn't getting at him! I posted here in error - and had been discussing his rather brilliant entry at length on the peer review for a long while before he answered this...
