A Brief History of the Assassins Guild
Created | Updated Mar 15, 2005
In the Beginning
The Assassins Guild was formed by “Doctor” Anthea after the fall of the Elite Company called The Black Panthers. She first recruited the skills of her former Commanding Officer, the then banished leader of the defeated Black Panthers, Khamsin.
The two worked quickly, assembling the backbones of the Guild, officers. The initial recommendations were made by Khamsin, based on his knowledge of mercenaries, rangers and the armies of the surrounding lands. Not everyone the two contacted was willing to join the Guild. Khamsin also insisted on having healers trained to fight like the rest, as they were the first ones targeted during the massacre of the Panthers.
After training an initial few assassins the guild quickly gained missions, not only assassinating but scouting for various military units and raiders. The Assassins Guild got off to a flying start, recruiting many members, and within the two years it was more powerful than the Black Panthers had been those four years. It had even set up its own hidden buildings and they had numerous servants to help with the day to day running of the Guild.
The Great Assassin Revolt
The only problem was that many questioned the leadership of Doctor Anther and on many occasions Anthea asked Khamsin to lead the Guild, but every time he refused. Khamsin finally agreed to joint leadership only after the two of them decided to marry. Their marriage was due to two reasons; one was that the two realised they loved each other dearly. The second was due to a power struggle, one of the officers of the Guild tried to gain control of the guild gathering a number of assassins giving them promises that he would give them power.
Reluctantly Khamsin saw the need, and picked up his sword for the first time since the tragic battle and rallied the rest of the Assassins to fight against those from within that threatened their very lives. Together Khamsin, Anthea, and their followers beat back the insurgents, but not without many losses on both sides. Their base no longer a secret and so the two ordered the assassins to scatter and regroup at a designated meeting point.
The Guild Starts Over
Once there Khamsin agreed to take a joint leadership of the Assassins Guild and to help to fight from now on. Khamsin and Anthea setting up tent with their meagre supplies waited for the Assassins to return.
Winter was soon ahead and it was only due to the return of the few remaining assassins with food that the two managed to survive the winter. They worked hard over the next few months not only recruiting and training more assassins but gaining the finances to keep the operation running.
A New Home
Within a year of Khamsin and Anthea making the small camp, the camp had grown too big to stay in one place. After some searching one of the Assassins managed to find a mission just for them. Deep within the mountains was an old manor house, big enough for the guilds operation and there was a contract on the Smuggler that resided there and the reward was the building itself.
Khamsin laid down the plans, it would be the first time the assassins had ever worked together in a proper military fashion all working together using their specialities. Camp was packed in speed with full military precision and the area left devoid of any evidence that the assassins ever camped in that desolate spot. The group split into three each taking a different path, it was a race to the finish.
After two weeks all assassins stood no more than a mile away from their chosen home, Khamsin scouted ahead, examining the steep slopes with no cover to be seen followed by the defences that had been erected around the manor by the smuggler and his men. The guild members awaited nightfall and within minutes the defences were neutralised, with Dr Anthea at the head of the attack on the inside of the building the defenders inside quickly gave up and surrendered to the power of Guild. Their leader lay dead, killed within his locked sanctum by Khamsin, who broke in through the window.
The Present Day
Once the building was taken, the prisoners were shackled and guild members were sent out to gain more supplies and collect the deeds for their reward. And so there the assassins still reside, the location kept for obvious reasons a closely guarded secrete, and any who by chance stumble upon there hiding place see only a normal building and nothing more. But within there the Assassin’s guild gathers more members and more strength than ever before.
