Shame.
We've found a few in our time and never managed to rear a survivor. Thus, in some ways, it's reassuring that when you did more than we ever do yet still couldn't get a result.
Anyway, we'll keep on trying won't we.

PS - what are mealworms/where do you get them/dig them up?

Mealworms are beetle larvae. Over here you can buy them in most shops that sell bird food, and the little birds love them.
It was a real shame, but she had no hope at all when we found her, and at least she died in some comfort and having enjoyed what appeared to be a very happy day.
