A Conversation for Slayerville

Buffy for the Masses?

Buffy The Vampire Slayer to air on Channel 5 in United Kingdom
From Radiotimes.com - 2005-03-11th
Show : Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Date : Saturday 19 March
Time : 6:40pm - 7:30pm
Channel : Five

Buffy back on terrestrial telly! Yay? Unfortunate for those of us who were never deemed to be important enough citizens of the united kingdom to be priveleged to watch channel five. Hopefully the same will apply when Charles Clarke starts locking up British Citizens without charge or trial, and we will be overlooked for that particularly Stalinist policy as well.

Any idea what season/episode they'll be showing?

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see which season(s) they've bought, but hey, any Buffy on TV is great news - it's already been far too long since it was off. Saturday evening as well! My life suddenly got a whole lot brighter!

Down side........adverts. Oh well, at least they won't be Sky length.

I get a misty version. Largely unwatchable. But then, that description applies to a lot of television.

I will watch the DVD in honour of the moment when I know what episode is playing . Perhaps we can start an episode conversation, or even page [?????? links to Slayerville perhaps.] for each ep as it comes on.

I had the misfortune to come across the original Buffy film on video last night whilst watching an old episode of Aly McBeal. Earlier I had watched the Buffy Pilot. How did Buffy ever get made? You are the man JW!

It would appear that the BBC Buffy News has caught up with me after only a couple of days... Apparently Ch 5 is going to show Buffy from "Welcome to the Hellmouth" S1, Ep 1.

Yay?

I'm really waiting for s.5 onwards again since I now have the earlier seasons on dvd (just re-watched The Wish and Doppelgangland - they are very goodsmiley - smiley), but I suppose it's fair enough that they're simply showing it in order.

So, are we thinking of starting a thread each week to discuss and review that week's episode (hopefully those without ch.5 have the dvds)?

So let me get this straight, some people get channel five for free?

Everyone gets ch.5 for free. It's just some areas don't have the reception to recieve it on terrestrial and don't have the digibox that would enable them to get it digitally (many of the channels you can get with digiboxes are actually free , for example, you bbc 1 on digital - you just have to pay for the digibox and also there is a charge for some channels).

There are 840 hours available on the five basic analogue channels. There is one new SF program to be shown: Doctor Who, on Saturday the 26th March at 7pm. So when are we getting the reruns of Buffy? 6.40 to 7.30 on Saturday evenings. I rest my case.

It appears that five have realised that Doctor Who is on at 7:00 from next week, as they announced at the end of yesterday's Buffy episode that it will be now on at the later time of 8:00.

For those who didn't see it, Tony Head introduced five's coverage yesterday with a little voiceover.

Is anybody else gonna watch Doctor Who? I think it looks great!smiley - smiley

Yes. Definitely I will watch. We may have to give it some time, but if the writing is good it will win in the end.
